Home Care provides non-medical support services to clients in their home setting. Caregiving can include assisting with personal tasks such as bathing and getting dressed. It also involves offering companionship and preparing meals. Caregivers may run errands, drive to appointments, and take individuals on outings in the community.

Home Care is different from Home Health services. Home Health services are medical services ordered by your doctor after a qualifying medical event and potentially paid for by insurance. Home Health Services are time limited and include disciplines such as Nursing, PT, OT, ST. They may be ordered post surgery or to assist with at home wound care.

Traditional medical insurance typically does NOT cover home care, since the service is considered “non-medical”. However, we always advise clients to call and ask their insurance company if they have a non-medical benefit and provider, as some insurances may. Long Term Care Insurance (depending on the policy) has some coverage for the services. Our agency will send the LTCi company the required documentation on a weekly basis to ensure services are being rendered and the client can be reimbursed directly by the insurance provider.

The goal is to help a patient return to their normal level of functioning after a medical event. If full recovery is not possible, the goal is to help them learn how to function at their new level. Cheer Home Care Caregivers work closely with Home Health providers to assist with exercises in between visits from therapists.

We have a dedicated recruiter who is responsible for bringing in new and skilled staff to Cheer. Candidates respond to ads that we post on different websites and outlets, and then go through a comprehensive process of vetting and interviewing. Once the candidate makes it through that process, they come into the office for an in-person interview with multiple team members and take an exam around care scenarios as well as provide us with a writing sample– answering questions around the passion, professional experience and providing insight into who they are and why they want to work for Cheer. Candidates moving forward must then provide all necessary and state required paperwork and documentation, including their state Home Care Aide Registry Clearance and satisfactorily pass our reference check process.
