Welcome Gabrielle Pumpian!

Cheer is excited to announce Gabrielle Pumpian as a member of the Cheer team. Gabrielle has been working as a Business Development professional in the Healthcare arena in San Diego for over 15 years. She cares deeply about helping older adults and their families navigate the complexities of the healthcare system by providing them with resources and insights that offer support and positive outcomes. She found her love for this career after graduating from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and moving to San Diego, working her first job as a Patient Access Services representative at Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s Neuro Rehabilitation Center. There she learned first-hand the importance of excellent care in a home setting after the unfortunate stroke of a family member. This experience shifted her perspective and career ambitions towards helping others obtain the resources they need to live a dignified and happy life in their home environment. Shortly after, she began working as a Marketing and Sales representative for a local Home Care Agency, where she grew as a sales professional, meeting and assessing care needs for older adults and supporting their families with caregiving services. After a few years of building her network, she moved on to an opportunity as the Director of Marketing for a large Skilled Nursing and Rehab facility in East County, where she learned how patients transition from the acute (hospital) setting to the post-acute care setting. She also quickly understood that this setting required medical insurance, specific requirements, and orders from physicians, and overall the patient had little choice in their care situation.

After taking a year sabbatical traveling in SouthEast Asia and through-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with her husband, she returned to San Diego and landed a Home Care Liaison position with Mission Healthcare working again in the caregiving space. She quickly moved up to a Senior Account Manager and eventually the Director of Home Care Operations, managing a large team of operations and sales professionals across San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties. At Mission, she was exposed to how Medicare services, such as Home Health and Hospice, can partner with home care (private pay) entities to complement the intermittent and clinical services to offer a well-rounded, long-term solution for supporting old adults wanting to age in place wherever they call home. After 4 years and some significant changes at Mission, she was offered an opportunity to work as a Hospice Liaison for Mission Hospice. While she enjoyed learning about hospice as an essential and dignified way for people to get support and care during the end of their life, she decided that Home Care was truly her passion. She decided to make a shift and, in 2017, was offered a position with a well-established, premier home care agency, Home Care Assistance, in La Jolla. With this new approach to nuanced and person-centered care, she learned how to partner with other professionals, such as Geriatric Care Managers, Concierge Physicians, Long Term Care Insurance specialists, and Placement agents, to offer a more holistic approach to long-term planning and care support. These partnerships have driven better outcomes for the families she has been honored to assist, and she loves to offer education to the local community, often partnering with a Financial Planner or Estate Planning Attorney to reach more people who want to know more and plan better.

She is excited to join forces with Brooke Martindale and Cheer Home Care to create a new, innovative home care company in the San Diego market.  Cheer Home Care’s goal is to provide exceptional services of care to clients and their families, while also building an organization that places emphasis and value on the challenging work that caregivers provide. She is passionate about being involved in creating systemic change within the caregiving industry.
